What’s Wrong About Modern Parenting?

How Instagram's parenting is doing more harm than good

Being a parent in this modern world is so different from before. We meet daily challenges that didn’t exist in previous generations. Being aware of these challenges is the best challenge. In this article, I will share some of those challenges that I noticed as a parent myself. You might feel sad while reading this article, but it is purpose is to help us be more conscious about our choices as parents. I am just like you; I am struggling with challenges and we are here to just help each other.

So what is wrong with modern parenting?

1. We are in the era of distraction

It is sad. Yet, as parents, we are distracted more than ever before. Social media and electronic devices get as distracted all day around. Even when we are away from our social media, our brain is distracted by all the news feed we scrolled and the Instagram posts we saw. A lot of data, a lot of news, a lot of photos, and stories are everywhere around us. Even though we feel they might inspire us, but they just get us distracted.

So kids get a lot of less eye contact and less one-to-one interaction. Special time with a distracted parent is not as special as it was before. Being at home, is not just being…
